Workout Nov 7 2011

I worked out with my trainer tonight and had a pretty good workout, we worked triceps, chest tonight.  Push-ups, bench press, which is one of my favorites, standing cable chest press, but we did it a little different, we modified it so it was to me harder, tricep pushdowns, single leg push-ups on the Bosu, cable chest press, single armed tricep pushdowns, back bends over a stability ball and another set of 2 different sets of tricep dips, first set was on the captain’s chair and the second was until failure with a set of push-ups right after. The first set of push-ups were plyo.  I could barely get the last set of push-ups done, my arms were feeling very toasty!  After that, I did cardio on the cross trainer for 3.1 miles.

I’ve been asked to give a little more detail about my workouts by people who read my blog, so I hope this helps out!

Monday’s Workout

Weight trained upper body tonight, triceps, chest & abs with my trainer I did a lot of reps till failure tonight! It’s really hard, it tires me out pretty quick, but I like it! I feel like I am really working the muscle hard when I do this!  First thing was

Tricep Dips

triceps dips, right into push-ups both till failure, and then bicycles 40 reps.  We did three sets of these.  We did bench presses, these are one of my favorites to do, my chest always is sore after these, then right into triceps push downs, again until failure and for abs we did reverse sit up with a crunch.  Next set is kind of hard to explain…I perform a push-up with one hand on the floor, one on a medicine ball-

 I roll the ball to my other hand, perform another push-up, 10 of these, thank goodness, because by this point, that’s about all I could muster, then right into close handed push-ups and for abs Captain Chair leg raises.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot we also then did 3 sets until failure tricep kickbacks after that!  I think I’ll be sore tomorrow!!  I did my circuit for cardio again tonight, 5 mins each on the following, the Stairmaster, skipping every other stair at a pace of 90, Cross Trainer, running on the treadmill, bicycle and the only thing I didn’t do for 5 mins was walking backwards on the treadmill at an incline of 50, I upped the speed from 1.2 to 1.4, because my trainer had me do this the other night, and I want to be able to keep up this pace when he gives it to me to do again later. I did this for 2 mins and my quads were on fire!!  I can really feel the difference when we up the speed, even by that little bit!

Tomorrow is cardio only, no weights. I miss weight training on Tuesday’s!  Wednesday will be legs and glutes and of course I’ll finish with some type of cardio.

What’s Happening!

Today was another productive day at work!  I have two big projects that I’m working on plus month end is here again!! Is it really August?!   

I went to the gym after work today and took a spin class, then I stretched out.  No weight training tonight.  My chest and triceps are sore from last nights workout!  I didn’t think we worked my triceps that much last night, but they are really sore and my chest usually doesn’t get sore unless we do chest press.  Although, I could hardly move my arms last night and we also did a lot of different exercises, which I like.  If I remember correctly, I don’t think we even worked with free weights last night (my favorite) we worked out on the plate loaded equipment.  I also did a lot of push ups on the Bosu, the floor and on the medicine ball.  Tomorrow, is leg day!  I always have to prepare myself mentally for leg day!  It’s normally a hard workout!!

I added a page called “Restaurant/Food Chain Nutritional Values”  the first restaurant I listed is Chili’s.  I will be adding more everyday, so keep checking back.  This will make it easy, if you are going out and want to plan ahead.

Update…

I’ve added some new before and after pictures and I finally added my races, that I’ve been in since I started running.   I will also be adding my old food journals that I’ve kept since I first started this journey.  I look at them the other night, and I was surprised at my diet… I’m going to post them, because I think it’s important for people to see how my diet has evolved over time.  I didn’t start out eating like I eat now, at all!!  It’s interesting for sure.  I’m glad I kept them!!

I had a really good workout tonight with my trainer…upper body…my arms were so engorged with blood I could not move them.  The last thing I had to do was 40 push ups on a medicine ball, but my muscles in my arms felt so big and fat that I had trouble bending them to do the push ups!!  After that I worked out on the elliptical, not my favorite piece of equipment, I really have to push myself and crank up the level to get a good work out on this machine.  The gym was crowded tonight, all the ARC trainers, Cross trainers and Stairmasters were taken, that left the ellipticals or the tread mills.  Normally I would have run, but Sunday I tried to go for a run because we ran a lot at bootcamp on Saturday and my Achilles felt good.  But, Sunday when I started to run, my Achilles started to hurt again, so I came back and rode my bike instead.  I think it’s getting better.  I wanted to run in the 5K Stadium Challenge on August 13th, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to.  This sounds fun!!  Anyway, I need  to finish packing up for tomorrow… gym bag, food, clothes…So goodnight!  ~B
